Delhiites have never had it so good. Gone are the days when all cool cafes were located in CP or South Delhi. Today, various localities in West and North West Delhi are offering diners a host of interesting options in terms of food, concept and ambiance.

Ricos, located in GTB Nagar offers a delectable menu of various pastas, pizzas along with sandwiches and other comfort food. Proximity to home and a lot of word of mouth made us decide on this place for a dinner with some old friends.

The decor is youthful with yellow walls, a sticky board and wrought iron chairs. Given that it is located close to Delhi University’s north campus area; this hep interior may be targetting the college crowd.

We started by ordering a pitcher of Virgin Sangria and vegetarian Shawarma platter. Sangria came in a long cylindrical pitcher. It was a blend of some juices infused with fruit slices. We don’t remember having such a refreshing drink in a long time. An absolute delight!

The veg Shawarma platter looked different from what we expected. These were open rolls with grilled cottage cheese slices placed on top of pita bread and were accompanied by hummus and mayonnaise. We loved it, though if you are looking for a spicy variety of shawarmas, it’s not for you.

After this we ordered a Pasta- Spicy Arrabbiata and a corn mushroom Calzone. Arrabbiatta was typical penne pasta in red sauce. No complaints with this one too. Calzone once again appeared very different from calzones we had before. The crust/covering was soft and soggy pita sheet and the stuffing was cheesy and gooey. Yummy indeed!

Since the portion sizes were small we were not satiated yet. We ordered a platter of corn and spinach stuffed cheese steak with peri peri sauce. It was served with stir fried zucchini and a portion of rice. The presentation was drool worthy and so was the taste.

For dessert, we ordered a red velvet cake and a chocolate mousse cup. Both of these were alright but nothing extraordinary. There is definitely room for improvement in their bakery and desserts section.

Service was prompt and the servers were helpful in deciding what to order. All in all, this was a great experience.
