Pizza Hut is out to bewitch its patrons all over again. Grapevine had it that something new in is the offing. We have been invited at the Pizza Hut outlet, Ambience Mall, Gurgaon. But the invitation contained very few details. It got even more inexplicable when we were welcomed with devil horns to be worn as a headband and ushered into a dark room with black and red walls. Not very palatable we thought.
During our recent short trip to Jaipur we wanted to have a light Rajasthani lunch and what can be more suitable than kachoris. We were recommended Rawat Misthan Bhandar for kachoris by the sister. My mother is a staunch vegetarian and I was looking for a simple place to have Mother’s Day lunch with her. We wanted some place in West Delhi. We just chanced upon Bittoo Tikki Wala outlet Kirti Nagar and because my mother is a fan of Indian street food variety we thought of giving this place a shot. The BTW outlet disappointed big time.
It is time for Chicken Tikka Masala to move over. Whole Foods Market, a natural and organic chain of stores in the United States of America, has a live dosa counter – Dosateria. When we travel, we prefer trying local cuisine. Yet, looking at a dosa in a totally alien environment, we just had to try this place.
We were recently at India Habitat Centre for Habitat Film Festival. We wanted to have some quick and light dinner in the vicinity. Right after exiting Habitat Centre we entered Meharchand Market and saw this new restaurant with an attractive glow sign that read Dietliciouz. This looked promising.
The humble kulcha has glammed up at KOOLCHAS, Gurgaon. They have two branches as of now – one in Sushant Lok and the other in the Sector 14 market. When we dropped at the latter outlet for early dinner, we liked the space. The bright prints on the white walls gave Koolchas a café feel. Now, kulchas in a café – does that work?
We have been to Chili’s in Boston and loved the fuss free dining experience. Chili’s Grill and Bar in New Delhi has launched a new bar menu. Recently, we visited Chili’s Connaught Place outlet and in this sweltering weather, the new bar menu was great news. It was already dinner time so we tried some Tex-Mex dishes and some decadent desserts as well.
Ottimo at the ITC Maurya is hosting a Summer Barbeque Festival throughout the month of May. We just need a reason to visit the beautiful Ottimo. The barbeque festival was a reason like no other so we rushed for dinner last evening. It was an elaborate affair and we had a delightful experience.
Le Meridien, Janpath recently organized an evening of sharbats at Allure. While the focus was sharbats as in traditional summer drinks of Delhi, the event had an interesting twist. They had roped in Asif Dehlvi and Rohit Manchandani from Delhi Karvan to tell the audience stories about sharbats and its connect with Delhi.

Muzaffar and Meera Ali have opened up their homestead in Gurgaon and set up a tent restaurant “Maashra”. Maashra offers a fine dining experience in line with the royal cuisine of Awadh. We recently had a 6 course meal over 4 hours here. Sitting in Gurgaon, it was travel to another space in another era.
What happens when you combine “Café” and “Restaurant”? Apparently it is a “Caftaurant” – Zorambo on Golf Course Road, Gurgaon. We recently attended the launch of Zorambo and surveyed it firsthand. We were in exalted company since the bestselling author Chetan Bhagat attended the launch as well.
