We thought we had seen it all, done it all in the food segment. Bingo – there was an invitation from Crowne Plaza, Mayur Vihar for an Indonesian Fiesta on the table. Now this was new! We were all excitement as to what was on the platter.

Fabelle at ITC Maurya Hotel recently celebrated World Chocolate Day. They had put together a chocolate Master class followed by a grand buffet lunch at the restaurant Pavilion and high tea. It sounded promising but we wondered whether it was really for us.
We recently tried Cravity, a café cum bakery at Hauz Khas market. Grapevine had it that desserts are their specialty and the Punjabi-Bengali sweet-tooth multiplied by two was all excited to try this place. It is a French theme cafe and what we ate comes next..
The well known chai chain – Chaayos keeps changing its menu according to the season. They now have a New Monsoon menu going and we needed a shelter from the showers last Friday. We rushed into Chaayos and saw that we weren’t alone. Almost all tables were occupied by wet folks munching something or sipping chai.
Khadi has opened an annexe, Khadi Haat, in the courtyard in front of Hanuman Mandir, Baba Kharag Singh Marg, Connaught Place. Bang opposite is now a Khadi Café, a food window with seating arrangement outside. Khadi Café is a new beginning for sure and the sudden drizzle some time back gave us the perfect reason for us to stop by and try this place.
– Dads in Delhi NCR finally had a glam moment last Sunday. LBB and Fabindia had collaborated for a Fab brunch at Fabcafe, Local Market Complex, Vasant Kunj to celebrate Father’s Day. We were invited to this attend this event with our father. The way Fabindia had adopted the totally foreign Father’s Day celebration and gave it an Indian twist was a lovely idea.
Delhi is a melting pot of cultures. Almost every cuisine has some presence by way of restaurants. But post a meal at a restaurant – we always wonder whether what we had was the right thing. To put paid to such concerns, Moushumi Maitra at Vasant Kunj has come up with a great idea. She has opened her home to diners in small batches (4 to 6 people) for Bengali meals home-style!
It is that time of the year – Ramzan fasting and feasting is on in full swing. We love the inclusiveness about Indian festivals – all you gotto do is step out. We recently stepped out for our annual ritual and are still burping with happiness.
Delhiites are probably the only people in India who started the trend of driving a few hours and several kilometres to eat at a humble dhaba. This style of dining at a dhaba gave birth to multi cuisine fancy new age dhabas like Haveli and Amrik Sukhdev on the highway. The culture has been taken forward by Garam Dharam, a multi cuisine theme based dhaba on NH1.
Sagar Ratna is our go-to place for vegetarian food. In fact, some of our folks are strict vegetarians and this place works very well for them. Sagar Ratna food is vegetarian and in fact even devoid of onions and garlic. We recently visited their latest branch in Delhi NCR located at DLF South Square Mall, Sarojini Nagar.
North Delhi is a predominately vegetarian area. In addition to restaurants, there are joints and kiosks in every other corner that serve solely vegetarian food. We were recently at Shalimar Bagh to watch Razi and dined at Everbake. Here is what we think of this place.
There is no dearth of vegetarian food options in Delhi NCR. That said, given the number of traditionally vegetarians, occasional vegetarians or converts, there is always room for more. In fact, the new Imly that we visited is like a bus. Located at Rajouri Garden, it was about time we covered this place.
The revamped Golf Course Road in Gurgaon wants to make up for lost time. A plethora of fascinating food and beverage options are opening here. The more the merrier we say. And to entice the whole gamut there is a new restopub Saints n Sinners at Global Foyer Mall. It was Friday evening and we could not wait to try this place.
Aerocity is an oasis in the dry airport area. Till some years ago, this was a barren spot till all the luxury hotels happened here. And to add to the dining experience in this area, now there is a Food Court as well – Food Capital. Located at Worldmark in Aerocity, this is the first in that area.
