We look forward to India Art Festival that is held during the winter in Delhi. This year it was hosted at Thyagraj stadium. It was a free event and drew substantial footfall apparently from all walks of life.
Some of us keep delving back into our childhood – our days of Billo, Archie, Chacha Chaudhury or Shikari Shambhu. Delhi Comic Con has brought this hidden desire back to us. It is a festival of comics – old and new – Indian and foreign. It’s a time travel to the past and a flight of fantasy to the future.
India International Trade Fair 2016 is on. This is the last IITF in the present avatar of Pragati Maidan since it is scheduled for major revamp after the fair. A much sought after event for the shopaholics of Delhi, everyone is a little jittery this year. Here is our hands on report.
People in Delhi NCR wait throughout the year for the India International Trade Fair. The last fortnight in November is reserved for that. The regular venue Pragati Maidan is being pulled down after Trade Fair this year and a new modern trade centre is in the offing here. However we are nostalgic about Pragati Maidan and plan to enjoy this Trade Fair to its fullest. Here is a heads up for Trade Fair 2016.
Colorama by Art Tree is a display of pieces of painting and sculpture at the foyer of Vivanta by Taj, Dwarka. The exhibition is on from 17th September 2016 to 17th February 2017. We were invited to the opening evening for art viewing over wine and cheese. Some of the artists were also available that evening for interacting with the guests.
Triveni Kala Sangam has served the cause of fine arts for years. During a recent visit we came across an exhibition by Pinaki Ranjan Bera. His works were simple and soothing to the eyes.
The digital world is taking us away from books. However, when we visit the book fairs in Delhi (at least two BIG ones every year), we are heartened by the surging crowds. Given that its pretty much the same affair every time, it is never a bore and here is why.
Mango Melas have been an annual feature in Delhi NCR since the last few years. It was held at Dilli Haat all these years. This year, it has a more central location – Handloom Haat on Janpath.
