Aadyam’s presentation this time is Anand Express. The play is based on Keith Gray’s story Ostrich Boys that was later adapted by Karl Miller for stage. The Indian adaption by Adarsh Khurana was recently staged at Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi. Directed for Aadyam by Nadir Khan, this is a Rage Productions presentation.

“Saying Yes” is an English play that is adapted from the works of Griselda Gambaro, the Argentinian playwright. Kaivalya Plays recently presented this piece at a rather informal setting at Instituto Cervantes off Connaught Place. It was a late rainy Sunday evening and the surging audience in the basement theatre was heartening assurance of growing interest in theatre in Delhi NCR.

Elephant in the Room – Ganesha as we don’t know him – META 2017

Mahendra Excellence Theatre Awards (META) this year had a host of mind-numbing beautiful plays and the jury would have had a very tough time in selecting the winners. A particularly interesting piece was ‘Elephant in the Room’ a soliloquy created out of an interesting topic. It is a quirky twist to the familiar story of Ganesha’s losing his head due to his father’s wrath and having an elephant head attached instead!

Sir Sir Sarla – Play by Zee Theatre

Zee TV’s theatre wing Zee Theater was back with its second presentation “Sir Sir Sarla”, a play written and directed by Makrand Deshpande. The 2 hours 15 minutes play was a most off beat production that cannot be identified in the common classifications of theater that we ordinarily get to see in Delhi. We look forward to their next production in March 2017.

Mohe Piya – Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2017

Mohe Piya, directed by Prof. Waman Kendre and performed by the group Rangpeeth from Mumbai, was based on Mahabharat during Bharat Rang Mahotsav by National School of Drama. The epics were the theme this year. Consequently we saw many such productions that involved some of the lesser known episodes from the epics.

National School of Drama Repertory Company staged their play Aadha Chand during Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2017. The plot deals with people who work in call centre/BPO sector and is a walk through their boulevard of broken dreams. The play had potential but long duration and a major Bollywood hangover got in the way.
