The Khadi Village Industrial Commission (KVIC) in association with New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), has set up a Charkha Museum, showcasing 50 to 100 year old charkhas donated by the owners of these charkhas. Apart from the popular standing charkha model, these charkhas are in various styles and designs. A host of old photographs and prints depicting the Swadeshi journey of Gandhiji and various snippets of the freedom struggle are also on display. There is some details about how to use a charkha as well.

But the talking point is perhaps the oversized steel charkha installation on the hillock at Connaught Place. Placed in front of the museum and shining from all sides, it has the potential of becoming a landmark for this area. As of now, it is a very popular selfie zone. Incidentally Charkha Museum is located bang opposite the Khadi Store in Connaught Place.

The Charkha Museum is not very big and may be covered within an hour. Like the Sulabh Toilet Museum, this does not fatigue the visitor one bit.  Open from 10 am to 9 pm, it is very moderately ticketed.

An interactive multimedia kiosk is installed for the visitors to get more information about Gandhiji, Charkha and associated movements.
