Laughter Nation has been bringing stand up comedy shows with fresh and established stand up comedians to the audience of Delhi NCR. We have been impressed with their earlier productions like Laugh with an Engineer by Apurv Gupta and Lolmaal by various artists. Cut 2 Cut is their latest standup comedy production we got to watch on a recent weekend.
This was not purely a standup act. This time they included some theatre along with small comedy stints. A bunch of comedians enacted small sketches that were at times based on satire, and at other times, just some goofy fun.
They kept alternating between comedy and sketches with each item being of around 10 minutes duration. This helped in breaking the monotony and added variety to the show. The pieces included relatable topics like politics, class divide, schooling and humor in everyday situations. As always, some of the jokes had sexual innuendos and it kept the adult audience laughing throughout.
To step up the game even further they had an impromptu session of comedy at the end. All the performers of the evening came together on stage and created funny one liners on some random given topic. This was a new thing for us and some of the performers really impressed with their spontaneity. This new idea totally worked for us and we had a great time.
What did not work for us was their using a tricolor duppatta for one of the sketches and the fact that they kept dropping it on floor. Using the tricolor so casually is a little uncivil. Other members in the audience were also taken aback with this bit. Please use any other dupatta next time.
Cut 2 Cut was all entertainment, fun and humor. The sketches and impromptu comedy brought some fresh air to the tried and tested standup comedy act.
