Delhi Drummers is a group of people from different walks of life who come together and play drums.

Recently they performed at the very beautiful Zorba the Buddha, located on Mehrauli Gurgaon Road. We attended the event out of curiosity. The informal style of the event listing was also quite interesting. Anybody could attend and if you like to play a musical instrument you are free to bring it and play with the group. There is no compulsion to reach at the starting time and one is not bound to attend till the end. No tickets, dress code or invite required.

Moreover we love the venue Zorba the Buddha for its lush greenery and the artistic aesthete. It has this Zen like ambiance that makes it a go-to place for events like yoga, dance, sound immersions etc.

When we reached, we heard the drums from the parking itself and after entering we saw the Delhi Drum Circle guys playing drums in the main event area, a gazebo, which incidentally is also circular. Though it was a very sticky evening, once the music took over everybody forgot the weather and was soaked in the rhythm.

People were swinging, swaying to the beats wherever they were sitting or standing.

Some were dancing inside the circular arena and many appeared to be in a state of trance. A couple of performers also sang to the note of drums.

From old people to kids, students to professionals, this event bonded everybody over the beat of drums.
