Dates: 23 October – 2 November, 2015

Dastkar has organised the Festival of Lights, a quaint Diwali Mela. This is a crafts-based approach towards Diwali and lifestyle in general. The fair has a dedicated parking right outside the venue. Looking at the number of cars parked outside and people coming out with shopping bags in both hands, one can make out the popularity of this Diwali Fair.

As we entered we were greeted with live Rajasthani folk music rendered by artists in their Rajasthani gear.

Once inside, the alleys had stalls on both sides selling all sorts of handmade products made from all sorts of surprising stuff.

There was a small makeshift food court where we had chai and pakoras

On the way out, we stopped for a while to see the Rajasthani dancers performing to an engrossed audience

The fair this year was perhaps better promoted and had a way higher footfall than other years.

This could be a branding thing but we are a little bored of the yellow festoons that Dastkar hangs and do hope that we see more colour in their future fairs.
