A host of experiments are happening all over the world in all areas including performing arts. Some can be clearly classified as dance / music / theater. Others keep the audience guessing. British Council recently brought forth one such production at their center in Delhi.

Going Viral is a solo show by Daniel Bye. He has combined story telling, performance lecture and audience interaction to create a 90 minutes show that can be classified as comedy or tragedy or stand-up or theater or nonsense. The story revolves around an imaginary tale where a contagion of weeping is going viral throughput the world. Apart from the protagonist, everybody else everywhere is crying buckets.  The theme may be absurd but indicates, in a bizarre situation, that people are sad for no reason.

The performer is trying to put the point across that you can’t be sad if you don’t want to whether you cut onions, chew chilies or have your hair pulled out. It reasons that happiness or sadness is a choice.

Daniel Bye is performing all over the country till 16th December. Here’s the schedule for all India Tour. It is definitely worth a dekko.

Orissa is still alien for people up north. The religious folks may be aware of Puri courtesy the glory of Lord Jagannath. However Orissa has lots more to offer than that. Perhaps to make up for such isolation, the Odisha Parba 2019 at India Gate lawns got big and better this year.
