It never ceases to surprise that a complete diverse bunch of cultures have functioned together under a single political regime. Some of the famous Indian regional cuisine restaurants that we have thoroughly enjoyed are Carnatic Cafe, Gujarat Bhawan, India on my Plate and Kashmir Kitchen.
In our quest for quality Indian food without burning a whole in the pocket, we came across Indian Grill Room. This restaurant follows a kebab / main course / dessert pattern. Kebabs are served on the table and rest of the fare is part of the buffet.
We had visited Indian Grill Room couple of years back. We revisited this place again recently to try their new menu. This time they have introduced some popular international cuisine such as Chinese staples and pasta.
Unlike last time when we had al fresco dinner, this time it was an indoor lunch. Among the kebabs we liked prawns, chicken and soy kebabs.
The salad station had fresh veggies and sprouts that added freshness and crunch of greens to our food. They also have a “make your own raita” section with various ingredients that can be mixed together for a customized raita.
From the main course we tasted a combination of veggies, chicken and fish. Paneer Lababdar and veg biryani may not be unique but they were absolutely delicious.
In fact Indian Grill Room is not about unique presentation or rare cuisine. It is about eating familiar dishes with an elevated taste and quality. For example the masala stuffed karela from their Tava Fry still makes our mouth water. Simple dish, unforgettable taste.
From desserts we tried firni, jalebi rabri and what we liked best “Paan Ice Cream“. We’re big fans of this ice cream. Its not just a flavored ice cream but has ingredients like saunf-supari and tooti fruity inside it. Yum.
What we like about Indian Grill Room is the fact that the buffet is not so extensive that you can’t find your way back to your table. Limited but well cooked tasty dishes. Highly recommended for folks who love north Indian cuisine and specially while dining out with family.
