Keep flying: The Night Owl – Shopping festival at DLF Place Saket

May 30, 2017 | Shopping

Delhi is known for its beautiful winters and terrible summers. Delhiites get to see and experience extremes of both weathers in Delhi NCR. In these scorching summers, unless urgent, more and more people try to stay inside during the daytime. Given the rising mercury, DLF Place, Saket hosted a unique summer shopping extravaganza called ‘The Night Owl’ on 27th and 28th May, 2017.

From 4 pm till midnight, The Night Owl shopping extravaganza provided the shopaholics an opportunity to enjoy shopping from a make-shift flea market over some foot tapping music and specially curated food from various brands and stalls. We attended this festival on Sunday, 28th May which was a relatively pleasant day weather wise. The area looked bright and festive with a stage, festoons, a selfie zone in shape of a colorful tree, various stalls for shopping and for food n beverages.

We started with having tea with snacky items like wheat momos from Wow Momos and donuts from Dunkin. We took a couple of rounds of the flea market where most of the stuff was geared towards women. Several boutiques and designers had put up stalls for women’s dresses and accessories.

We spotted these cool looking emoji bags on one of the stalls.

We were happy to finally see a stall selling stuff exclusively for men.

A Sufi music performance by Nizami brothers left the audience asking for more. We were so engrossed in listening to songs like Faya Kun and Dama Dam Mast Kalandar, that we almost forgot to switch on the camera during the performance.

We saved the best for last. Foodies, that we are, we decided to try out small portions of food items from as many stalls as possible. While we tried Chicken Korma and Rumali roti from Nilu’s kitchen, we savored mouth watering chicken shawarma and hummus & pita from Zizo.

For desserts we tried two varieties of cake-in-a-jar from le peche. We just love their red velvet and caramel chocolate cakes.

Turquoise Ice Cream stall was a crowd puller for their typical Turkish Ice Cream routine. We couldn’t resist either and bought an ice cream cone with three flavors from this stall.

We stayed till 11.30 in the night and tried to make the best of this one of a kind shopping festival that offered a mix of music, mouth-watering delicacies and shopping experience all under one roof on a weekend. Night Owl Shopping Extravaganza at DLF Place Saket goes in our list of cool things to do in Delhi summer.
