National school of drama has been successful in bringing some of the rare groups and performances to Delhi every year as part of their Bharat Rang Mahotsav (BRM).

Staged as a part of the recently concluded 17th BRM, LE CHANTS DE I’ UMAI was an abstract musical performance by the group of Institut Francais and directed / enacted by Marcia Barcellos. It’s a compilation of music, hymns and chants from around the world presented with some surreal visuals and rhythmic body movements.

Using on-stage 3D projection, abstract video backgrounds, outlandish costumes and melodious chants, the director successfully created virtual dreamscapes that are hard to forget.

Delhi audience felt the connect and specially applauded during a rendition of “Sri Ram Chandra Kripalu Bhajman” by the artist. Abstract as it may be the artist and the director succeeded in inculcating a general appeal to the whole show and kept the Delhi audience glued to their seats for their almost 1 hour long performance.
