Aditya Birla Group’s Aadyam has staged quite a few memorable plays in their season 2 in Delhi. We were privileged to have watched Ladies Sangeet, 12 Angry Jurors and Chakkar Chalaye Ghanchakkar in this series.

We were excited to see Aadyam’s Loretta in the schedule of Bharat Rang Mahotsav (BRM) this year. We had missed this play during Aadyam’s season 2 and this gave us an opportunity to watch this play during NSD’s theatre festival in Delhi.

The is a light comedy that takes us to our favourite destination Goa and involves Loretta, her boyfriend and his father. While the boyfriend dreams of settling abroad, Loretta found a connection with her boyfriend’s home, hometown and father. A host of supporting cast helps her learn the language and in the process made the play funny and entertaining. Loretta is a musical and songs in Konkani and English make the play quite melodious. So much so that the Delhi audience didn’t mind a few dialogues in Konkani here or there.

In fact that’s the message this play is trying to drive home. Love is beyond languages, ethnicity and cultures. Aadyam’s Loretta successfully managed to convey – home is where your heart is.

A special mention to the two narrators who add a lot of fun element to the production.

Kudos to the director Sunil Shanbaug for bringing Loretta, a complete act.
