Not so Wow Momos

Wow! Momo is a known name now what with several outlets all over Delhi NCR. This Kolkata momo chain started in Delhi not so long back and one can see their stalls at almost all food festivals in and around the city. We were at DLF Place Saket for some shopping and thought of having momos for dinner. We spotted a Wow! Momo outlet at the food court and ordered a few dishes for ourselves.

What we ordered: Chicken wheat momos, chicken momos, Paneer momos, Non veg Thupka, MoBurger, Mango momos and chcocolate momos. Thupka was probably the spiciest things we have tasted in our lives. The alarming mirchi level had us running for the river. We wouldn’t even prank anybody with this level of chilli in a food item. Our taste buds almost went numb after this.

With tears in our eyes we tried swallowing momos. Both varieties of chicken momos also felt very spicy. Maybe because of after effect of thupka or maybe because they were spicy. What’s the point of giving chilli sauce (two varities – red and green) along with momos when the dish is already so high in chilli. And for God’s sake its momos not sadak ki chaat….

Paneer momos were much better than the chicken variety. MoBurger had momos inside a bun with some mayo and layers of chilli sauces. Why make burgers out of momos??? Whats the rationale? Rather than experimenting with momos and creating such dishes, how about making your momos better?

Chocolate momos were good for gimmick and one time try. Mango momos were the most bizarre dish we have tried of late. It looked and tasted so weird. Highly avoidable.

The terrible mirchi level in thupka spoiled our dinner totally and none of the other dishes could redeem it. For a plate of momos for 130/- + Taxes we don’t think wow momos was even value for money.

I also didn’t have a great experience with them. The Malviya Nagar outlet is not so great again.

I tried Wow Momos in Calcutta. Quite a waste since Kolkata has a host of great Tibetan outlets and momo options
