NSD’s theatre extravaganza – Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2017

It’s that time of the year that we wait with baited breath.

National school of Drama invited us to the press conference of the 19th edition of Bharat Rang Mahotsav. On this occasion professor Waman Kendre, Director NSD addressed the media. The festival is being held from 01- 21 February 2017 at the auditoriums of NSD as well as Kamani, Shriram and LTG.

A brief synopsis of earlier BRM is available here. We have watched several plays by renowned directors, actors and theatre groups in India and overseas and have documented these fantastic experiences. Here is a link to the earlier BRM play reviews.

The theme of Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2017 is “Who’s theatre is it anyway” and along with folk theatre, they are including classical plays as well in their latest edition of this Theatre Festival. A host of talks, workshops, live performances are going to be a part of BRM 2017. Plays in languages like Maithili and Teeva are also featured in Schedule of plays for Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2017. Along with theatre, other art forms that are also known for story telling like Gond Paintings, Kaanwar and PattaChitra are also a part of National School of Drama’s theatre festival.

Stalls of back stage technical equipment’s, costumes etc are going to be a part of 19th BRM. Theatre bazaar and the food court will be set up to engage the visitors. International food items will also be included along with local food items in the food court.

Celebrity directors from Bollywood and eminent theatre personalities from abroad will also come and be part of this theatre extravaganza.

25 Plays would be webcast live for online viewing.

Tickets are available online and NSD counters. Ticket price range from Rs.50/- to Rs.400/-

      Ticket counters are at the venues for the plays. Kamani auditorium on coppernicus road – NSD at Bhagwandas road – LTG on coppernicus road and Sriram centre on Safdar Hashmi marg . All these auditoriums are at Mandi House near CP. Online tickets are avaialble at eticket.nsd.gov.in/2017
