Connaught Place is buzzing with new restaurants. Many of these are gaining popularity because of big names and celebrity chefs  and some because of hype and word of mouth. These cafes/restaurants are not only good for celebrations and regular dining but also a new option for product launches and group meetups. Moreover every new restaurant in Delhi NCR is coming up with a new theme. From prison theme to Hollywood, there is no end to creativity in food business.

We dined at recently launched theme based Oh My God in Connaught Place. The name rang a bell as OH MY GOD is also one of our favourite films in recent years. This restaurant is located on second floor of F Block right above Chaayos. The decor included European looking paintings with Harry Potter style effects in stairs, cotton clouds, flying elephants, a big LED screen, yellow lights and comfortable sofas.

The starters and cocktails were nothing much to write about. Chicken skewers, Vada pao (well it’s almost a staple in all new restaurants these days… God knows why – pun intended), Veg spring rolls in small shot glasses were all average. Soy chops were tasty but it’s not something that you will go to a restaurant in CP for. Cocktails looked interesting but taste wise, well we have had better.

The main course was better than the starters and drinks. Kathal pulao, Paneer makhni, Fried rice, tofu and bokchoy and Southern spiced fried all were tasty. But none of the dishes was unique. Desserts saved the day for us. The melon kheer though a little too sweet for our taste buds was new and we loved the refreshing taste. The lava cake and the mango panacotta were delicious.

Oh My God has tough competition in the neighborhood and they really need to upgrade their food and services if they want to survive in the long run.
