Oleev Active – fun way to health!

Venue: Greater Kailash II

Traditional Indian food has oil at its core. Be it the simple rice or the fancy poori fried in white oil, a dollop of ghee is an add-on with both.  Unless it is oily – spicy, Indian food doesn’t make the cut.

However, as per cardiologists, Asians are more susceptible to heart diseases than other races. Stress related with modern life and a sedentary routine doesn’t help either. Even otherwise, young Indians are looking out for a healthier life style as a way of being. They want to enjoy Indian food, home cooked, tasty as ghar ka khana ordinarily is, without compromising on their health.

This shift in the philosophy is leading to replacement of oil and ghee by healthier options.

To facilitate the shift, Modi Naturals Ltd. has launched a new variety of soya bean cooking oil – Oleev Active. Oleev Active provides the benefits of soya while ensuring that the medium seamlessly blends in Indian cuisines.

We were invited for a luncheon at Beeryani, Greater Kailash II for a brief orientation to Oleev Active. The event started with a presentation about the product. We realised that Oleev is loaded with health benefits, easy on pocket, and to top it all, is made with a formula that helps less absorption of oil by the dishes. We also learnt that, unlike other cooking medium like mustard oil / ghee where the taste of oil supersedes the ingredients, Oleev Active helps the vegetable or meat retain its own flavour and taste.

Be that as it may, the proof of the pudding is in its eating. Most of the dishes at the luncheon were cooked in Beeryani’s kitchen with Oleev Active.

Unlike the common notion that soya bean oil is only suitable for bland cooking, in our opinion, Oleev Active was perfect for the Indian food items such as rice, paratha and gravies that were served. In fact, the sumptuous biryani cooked by the chefs at Beeryani was a testimony to this fact.

The cooking medium had integrated in the dish rendering the richness of olives while keeping the food light and digestible.

An interesting feature is that the Oleev Active jar has an oil meter through which one can see how much oil is left in the container without opening it. A small nifty jugaad we must say.

Our love affair with Oleev Active didn’t end with this lunch. We have been cooking our very own ghar ka khana with this oil and are just loving it. Our food feels, lighter and overall easier on the system.

We give Oleev Active a big thumbs up.
