Parts of the Rashtrapati Bhawan are open for public visit and hour long tours are conducted by trained guides inside the Bhawan. During the course of the tour, one gets to see various settings that are otherwise visible only on TV. This is an activity that may attract children and adults alike.
bohème – Short films and finger food
bohème is a continental resto-bar at D Blk Market, Vasant Vihar. They serve simple but interesting food and the décor is soothing. However, it is high up on the second floor without a lift. So for the steep three storey climb – fitness is a prerequisite!
Shamiana – Short films screening
Shamiana organised an evening of short films in collaboration with YES Foundation. The venue was Café Boheme at Vasant Vihar. The presentation was ok and we hope Shamiana comes up with a better selection of films and venue next time round.
The Burger Club – Burgers with a Kiwi Makeover
The Burger Club is a fast food joint not far from Rajouri Garden Metro Station. The burgers that they serve are tasty and, though the recipe is from New Zealand, have a mild Indian twist. This place is a must try for burger buffs. In fact, we had Banoffee pie for desert and fell in love with that as well.
Bharat Parv – A celebration of Indian culture and cuisine
Bharat Parv is a festival organised to showcase the cuisine and culture of the various states of India. It is being held at various venues in Delhi. We welcome the initiative as a reminder about the advantages of living in a free state.
“As Simple As That ” – Iranian film directed by Reza Mirkarimi
“As Simple As That” is an Iranian film directed by Reza Mirkarimi. It depicts a common issue – the loneliness of a housewife. The film is a brilliant example of how a mundane every day phenomena can be transformed into a poignant piece of cinematic art. This film was screened in Delhi courtesy Iran Culture House and Habitat Film Club.
Chai Point – Good chai option for tea lovers
Chai point is a tea chain that has an outlet at DLF Cyberhub. Given the tasty tea and snacks, chilled out ambiance and reasonable prices, this is a must do for tea folks as well as anyone who is bored of Coffee Shops. We must add that this seems to be the only tea cafe at Cyberhub.
Manipuri dance recital – Sovanabrata Sarkar & Nutan Sovan Sarkar
Classical dances of India have mesmerised the world. Manipuri is one of the classical dances originating eponymously from Manipur. In the course of the performance by Sovanabrata Sarkar and Nutan Sovan Sarkar, we witnessed the grandeur of this dance through gorgeous but tasteful costumes, soft and lyrical dance movements and the rhythmic accompanying music characterised by hymns, taals and drums. The performance was interspersed with candid chitchat by Sovan about Manipur dance form and Manipur. On hearing him speak, we had a strong urge of planning the next holiday at Manipur.
Indian Grill Room – North Indian & Mughlai buffet in Gurgaon
Indian Grill Room on Golf Course Road, Gurgaon offers Indian / Mughlai buffet style dinners of unlimited helpings of kebabs – main course – dessert pattern. They serve al carte as well and the fare is very decent. But what we love about the place is the outdoor seating. The terrace has been transformed into a dream setting with pools, plants, sprinklers and ground lighting. Far above the hustle bustle of Gurgaon, we recommend this place for a romance plus food combo experience.
