Filmbooth Spoofhmania Day 01

Nov 20, 2012 | Others

Day 01 of the Spoofhmania festival wasn’t as entertaining or impressive as we had expected. We’ve been a regular audience at Filmbooth’s screenings. This one kinda  disappointed us.
  1. Major shortcoming is promotion of the event. We just came to know about Day 01 of the Spoofhmania by chance. Ideally we should have received a “SAVE THE DATE” emailer a day or two before the event.
  2. Choice of venue wasn’t great. Some Delhi venue like IHC would have attracted more viewers.
  3. The host of the show didn’t do a great job.
  4. Films screened were lackluster. “Spider plant man” was just about OK. We managed half a laugh. Cremerica was a good effort but could have been better.
  5. We wonder why they screened “Tere Bin Laden”. Has Filmbooth completely moved away from Short Films? It’s neither short film nor a spoof. God knows what was the point of screening this movie as part of Spoofhmania.
  6. The (Photostate) handouts had wrong details about the movies. Spider Plant Man had synopsis of Cremerica and Cremerica had synopsis of Spider Plant Man. Looked like they did a rush job. Not professional at all.
  7. All said and done, We’ll give full marks to the team of Filmbooth for enthusiasm and unique concept.

Then came the narrative which was long and boring. The script leant on the crutch made of borrowed Hindi film songs. So much for creative expression! Sohaila Kapoor’s stylish reading notwithstanding, the dull and repetitive writing was beyond salvation.
