Aadyam has been bringing about a movement in Delhi NCR. Many of us have started coming back to theatre to watch their immaculate play productions. Bandish 20 – 20000Hz was recently staged at Kamani Auditorium under the Aadyam banner. It has upcoming shows in Mumbai this month and it’s a must watch.
Girish Karnad’s Agni aur Varsha has once again been adopted as a stage production Toye. Jyoti Dogra presented this play as part of Samanvay – The Annual IHC Indian Languages Festival. We watched this during the festival and left with mixed feelings.
Gauhar, a play based on the life of Gauhar Jaan – India’s first recording artist was recently held at Sirifort and Epicenter. Scripted by Mahesh Dattani and directed by Lilette Dubey, the high point of this production was the live singing by Rajshwari and Zilla Khan of yesteryears Hindustani music.
Notes on Chai by Jyoti Dogra was presented on a late show during Bharat Rang Mahotsav. As the name suggests, the play was an abstract soliloquy that screamed “experiment”!
