Thai food is known worldwide for its rich flavours, colors and aroma. Unlike Continental and Mediterranean cuisine, Thai cuisine has always been far from simplicity and is a combination of tastes such as sour, sweet and spicy.

We recently get to enjoy this flavorsome cuisine at J W Marriot, Aerocity where they are holding a Bangkok Food Festival at their restaurant K3. The ambiance and decor is simple, well lit and spacious like any star rated restaurant.

We had a Passion fruit Caipiroska along with a sea food salad as starters. The cocktail was refreshing and salad looked sumptuous and had a spicy edge. Fresh prawns with generous red chilly seasoning were perfect with the cocktail which was little too sweet.

The chef was cooking live an appam style dish with rice flour, coconut and veggies in it. Oh my my… what an awesome little dish… slightly sweet in taste with melt in the mouth texture, we could have just had those with our drinks and wouldn’t need anything else. We have had Thai food before but have never come across this degree of awesomeness.

For main course we had steamed rice with tofu in red curry. This was one of the best tofu we had till date. Chicken in green curry was delectable as well. In contrast to the starters, main course was not very spicy and had sweet-sour-tropical flavors to it.

Like any show stopper, the steamed fish arrived a little late, all decorated with lemon slices and herbs and stood out from rest of the fare.

For dessert we had Thab Thim Grob. Though the name maybe a tongue twister, it was a delight for taste buds. Served in martini glasses, this water chestnut and coconut based dessert brought this Thai lunch to a sweet conclusion.

A big thumbs up to the chef and team. This Bangkok food festival at K3, J W Marriot is very apt for the summer and is highly recommended for Thai food lovers.
