Delhi is undoubtedly the food capital of India. To keep Delhi interesting and Delhites’ palette full, this onset of winters we noticed a surge of Food Festivals, each claiming to be bigger and better than others.

The Grub Fest has also gained popularity by bringing the popular eateries, food, drinks, and some live performances under one roof! In fact, under no roof, as the fest happened in the open at Ambience lawns, Gurgaon.

We attended their preview at B -Bar some time back and we were told this one is a premium food fest. Unlike street food festivals, this one had an entry charge. We had our tickets booked online and we attended The Grub Fest on last day which was a Sunday.

The way to the fest was through Leela Ambience and led to big lawns where they had dedicated parking in a dusty open area outside the venue.  We collected our tickets and entered the lawns after frisking.

They had several stalls, in the covered area, selling packaged food, juices, organic snacks, chocolate based products etc. As Diwali was round the corner, most of the stuff was geared towards festival gift packs. All the sellers provided samplers to the visitors. We tried some chocolates and juices.

After this we entered the open lawns where it almost felt as if DLF Cyberhub has moved to another location temporarily. We saw stalls of various popular, medium to high end restaurants like Social, Hinglish, Sodabottleopenerwalla, Fork You Too and many others.

The crowd comprised mostly youngsters and they had live performances as a part of the show.

We saw Vir Das doing stand up comedy along with some live singing to the audience.

We took a round of the whole lawn which was divided into various segments. Along the boundary they had stalls of various restaurants.

People were generally having a good time, chilling with food, drinks, getting clicked with chefs and of course taking selfies.

Mostly geared towards the youngsters, the fair had a small separate section for kids where games and cycling competition were being held.

Product promotion was also a part of the Fest. We saw stalls of Maruti and Hero among others.

Apart from the limited sitting arrangement inside the food stalls, they had a few seats available in the lawn area for people to sit and relax. We guzzled our overpriced beers and snacks sitting on the lawn grass.

Towards the end we enjoyed a couple of songs by “The Raghu Dixit Project” band. Their energy was totally in sync with the young audience and they managed to not just pull the crowd but keep them entertained throughout the duration of their performance.

On our way out we noticed this artificial wishing well which was sadly being used as a dustbin by a lot of people.

The Grub Fest was overall an enjoyable experience.
