Scent of a man

Venue: India Habitat Centre

Ashwin Gidwani’s “The scent of a man-Taste the forbidden fruit” is a funny situational comedy. Polygamy is handled here in a light comical way, giving it a very casual approach. Verbal dual between two couples let the play flow from one revelation to another only to discover a surprise towards the climax.

The play boasts of several catchy one-liners. Most of them work. Big Bazaar verses Good Earth – Pavarotti verses Bollywood music – Class divide jokes were also integral to this verbose comedy.

Having TV actors playing the main characters add to the glamor quotient as well ensures a good number of viewers. It also raises the hopes of audience that they are in for a professional and entertaining show. In this case none of the actors disappoint. Deven Khote, Ash Chandler, Bhavana Pani and Suchitra Pillai delivered a rocking performance.
