Food is the new porn. Food shows are giving reality singing / dance shows a run for their viewership. Chefs are star ambassadors in many lifestyle channels. The camera and lighting cover food as glamour celebrities.
One of the premium lifestyle channels NDTV Goodtimes has started a new cookery show – My Yellow Table. We were invited at the launch at the Imperfecto Pub, Hauz Khas Village at 4 p.m, June 20. The event featured the host of the show, celebrity chef Kunal Kapoor.
By way of introduction Kapoor said that the show is about Indian food with a twist. During the 26 episodes, he would be cooking dishes in the presence of guests who will be from different walks of life.
While explaining the title, Kapoor said that it’s the vibrancy of the colour yellow that attracted him to have a focal point in the show – a Yellow Table. He lived up to the occasion and sported a yellow t-shirt for the event.
This brief introduction was followed by a live cooking session and guest interaction. We found Kapoor very approachable.
Chef Kunal Kapoor was happily clicking selfies with the guests – these were called “chefies” (“Selfies with and as a chef”).
The snacks and the nice music at the end made it a Saturday afternoon fun do.
Looks like a nice show for foodies!!!!
Wonder where did chef kunal kapoor learn to make Kerala Sahara.we keralites do not use ginger ,garlic ,and jeers in our Sambhar.in fact ginger and garlic is never used in any Sambhar.please do not show something you do not know.what a shame.that too on national tv???where we South Indians are watching.
