Till now tea cafes are a rarity and we were a little skeptical about driving all the way to Malviya Nagar for T’pot Cafe. From the decor it looks like a set from a KJo film – florescent color walls and raw silk cushions on faux leather seats. Thronged by college kids (Aurobindo college is in vicinity), it was a little difficult to take this place seriously till we tasted our order of Masala ginger chai, Ginger chai and Fruit n nut muffin.

These basic items that we order in most cafes turned out to be just that – basic. But here the teas were aromatic with ginger/spices and were right in strength. Served in fancy kullars, the smell of baked clay added to the flavor. Not English tea these are softer versions of the boiled dhaba tea that we yearn for as a break from Starbucks, Costas and Baristas.

A word of caution – its a very noisy place. The staff compensates though. They seem non intrusive and yet hospitable.

If you are coming to this area and want to have some simple Pasta, Pizza, Panini kinda fare we would recommend this place because they have a longish menu for that as well.
