Wildfire glows at Crowne Plaza Today Gurgaon

We have tried Thai food and Korean . Japanese , Burmese and Mediterranean. But Delhi NCR is a food hub that has no dearth of varieties. Guess what! Wildfire, a restaurant at Crowne Plaza serves Brazilian cuisine. Hence we were very excited when we got an invite to try out this place.

Crowne Plaza Gurgaon is a beautiful property with uncluttered decor. Wildfire reflects the same aesthete. Soft lights, comfortable seating and a live kitchen is how this place looks. In line with the name, cauldrons with fire torches all around the restaurant gave the decor extra oomph. An array of salads was set on the kitchen counter. Smoked salmon rolls, grilled vegetables, prunes wrapped in cucumber slices, seasoned beans and cheese with cashew and walnuts formed part of the starters.

Meanwhile, Chef Rio came and joined us from the kitchen. He served us Pestel, a triangular puff with molten cheese and vegetable filling. One bite and it almost melted in our mouth. This was a great snack with our drinks.

Brazil and Argentina both claim to be South America’s barbecue champion. It was therefore no surprise that Chef recommended the seven meat barbecue combo for the main course. While we finished our starters and drinks, Chef and his team got into action in the kitchen and started serving the barbecue items. The chicken chunks were a bit like our tikkas but not quite. These were milder and very yum. Then came the lamb that we guess had a very simple marination. The grill process gave the meat a beautiful pink colour, smokey flavour and bitterness in taste. The spiced pork sausages were very different from what we get here. The hero of this section was undoubtedly chicken pieces wrapped in salami. The crispy cover with soft filling was a unique preparation.

For desserts we had apple struddle with vanilla foam and tiramisu. However our experience couldn’t be complete without Brazilian coffee. We requested for Brazilian cappuccino – Lavasa Treva. It was much lighter in consistency than the cappuccino that we get here but the aroma was strong and pleasantly unusual.

And we can use the same adjectives about the complete experience. While there are 5-stars and 5-stars, Brazilian cuisine was a pleasantly unusual experience. Wildfire at Crowne Plaza Today Gurgaon indeed kindled the fire in our foodie souls.
