About Anantum
With over 150 rooms, it is like a mini township but sparkling clean. The design is such that the rooms are warm and cosy. Even during the coldest time of the year, we were comfortable inside.
They have lavish spreads in the grand dining hall and you can metabolise that in the gym or the multiple swimming pools on the property. They also have bicycles, an activity zone with games a bowling alley, a bar, and even a discotheque for you to let your hair down. If the quintessential jungle safari and all these activities tire you, the spa at Anantum offers relaxing massages and treatments. Or you can chill, sit out in the room balconies or the many lawns, and enjoy the comforting winter sun.
The very hospitable staff here are like Santa’s elves. They work silently and no request takes more than 4 minutes. Given its magnitude and the host of facilities, Anantum is a favourite venue for weddings and retreats.
Food at Anantum
Anantum lays breakfast, lunch, high tea, and dinner buffets in their dining hall or you can order ala carte in your room. They also arrange alfresco meals on their lawns for bigger parties. We had a variety of Indian and Chinese dishes while we spotted others savouring pasta and pizza too. Clearly, the chef caters to a variety of palettes.
We loved their in-house bakery items – jam cookies, cupcakes and brownies. The fresh mini samosas at high tea and the Rawa Kesari for dessert were absolute delights. We also enjoyed their mixed noodles and the prettiest salad ever for dinner.
Special thanks for the Sarson ka Saag on one of the coldest nights we were there. The dish was cooked in moderation, that is, no overkill of spices, oil, or butter. In combination with fresh rotis from tandoor, we had a nostalgic dinner.
How to reach Anantum, Jim Corbett
Delhi to Jim Corbett is about 5 to 6 hours commute whichever mode you travel. We took the Uttar Sampark Kranti Express from Old Delhi Railway station at 4 in the afternoon and reached Ramnagar, the nearest railway station in a neat 5 hours. Anantum is at a convenient distance from Ramnagar Railway Station and we reached the resort in about 15 minutes by taxi. You may drive if you wish. The approach to the resort is wide and spacious. They have adequate parking space as well.
Offbeat Things To Do in Jim Corbett
Jungle Safari
Doesn’t belong to the list but we would still recommend it for everyone as this is THE thing to do in Jim Corbett. You can make it a fun activity or an offbeat activity based on your interest and purpose. We have seen photographers waiting for hours standing still in one place just to capture one glimpse of the tiger and we have seen roudy groups shouting at the top of their lungs like they are at a party right in the middle of the forest. It’s up to you to make it offbeat or touristy but it surely goes in a list of all sorts of “things-to-do” in Jim Corbett.

The Dhikala area, the largest safari zone is the closest to Anantum and they arranged our safari on request. The safari, on a bitter cold dawn, was a goosebump experience.

Corbett Forest Museum
Located at the Dhikala reserve entry gate this is one of the best multi-media collections about the flora and fauna of this region. They have models, stuffed animals, movie shows, curated experiences, and much more to captivate the young and old.
Suspension Bridge
This is a colonial-era bridge hanging from two elaborate fort-like structures at 2 ends of the Kosi River. It is one of the grandest structures we have seen here.
Garjiya Temple
Girija in local parlance is “Garjiya”. Dedicated to Goddess Girija, a form of Goddess Durga, the Garjiya Temple atop a hill beside the Kosi River is a must-visit for divinity as well as the bird’s eye view of the surrounding forest.
The New Year season at Anantum Gateway Resort promises a lot of surprises. They just had Gulshan Grover and Shivani Kashyap to usher in the holiday spirit and we hear they have many cool programs and offers up for grabs.
