After Stories is a new gastro pub located in Sector 29 Gurgaon though a little off from the Sector 29 cloister that boasts of several eateries like Warehouse Cafe, Factory by Sutra and Hunter Valley etc. After Stories is located close to IFFCO metro station giving company to California Boulevard  and Sandys Bar.

We just love the name – After Stories. It instantly makes you want to know this place better. We were invited for a review and went for an early dinner on a weekend. We took a table at the basement that has a full functional bar with very spacious seating. Decor is soothing to eyes and the service was pleasant.

We started with a couple of cocktails  Gold Rush (their take on Whisky Sour) and G town special. We liked the cocktails immensely despite their high sweetness. The bitterness and citrus taste managed to balance the sweetness. We had our drinks with lemon basil fish and crunchy fried lotus stem. Both the starters were good. Fish was tender and delicious. Sadly most of the starters these days are of the fried variety. We crave for some roasted or grilled starters that can be served salads etc. On our request they served us a Shredded Chicken Teriyaki salad that provided some relief from heavy starters.

On their recommendation we tried a sampler of some of their recommended dishes like Tawa Meat Bhuna, Baked Filo Mutton Puff (freshly made, very hot and delicious), Tandoori Mushroom Two Cheese Stuffing etc. They served their tawa breads in triangular shapes that went well with these dishes.

We liked their main course dishes much better. Mutton with Blueberry Pulao looked gorgeous and tasted great. Goan Fish Curry with Steam Rice was probably the best we have ever had. The curry, though rich in flavors did not overshadow the taste of fish. Bread pot with smoked chicken and mushroom was a box made of bread filled with melted cheese, mushroom, smoked chicken and baked egg. This one was a definite show stopper. Any Cheese lover would go ga ga over the taste and presentation.

While main course took us to seventh heaven of gourmet delight, desserts were a step down. Their Tiramisu, Churros with Chocolate Ganache and Brownie Walnut were alright but not outstanding as the other dishes. Churros lacked flavor and were not worth the deep fried calories. Being loyal fans of Tiramisu, we liked it the most among the desserts.

Overall After Stories is a great option for folks who are looking for a decent pub and brewery or casual/fine dining option in Gurgaon. We give it a thumbs up.
