Winter is fun time in Delhi. We get to attend a host of events – be it Book Fairs to Theatre Festivals to fashion. It is just a couple of weeks that we had attended Amazon India Fashion Week. The recently concluded Ambience Fashion Weekend 2016 is thus one more for the season.
The final evening on 6 November saw a smart combination of brands as well as designers adorn the ramp with their chic collections. The brands included Marks & Spencers, Fabindia and Scullers.
The Scullers collection comprised of what we call smart casuals. They displayed a range of sporty yet subtle ready to wear clothes on the ramp. The collections were under the names Flamenco, Ibiza, Flamenco and Hola Majorca. All the items were bright, looked comfortable yet well-cut and were extremely wearable.
The second half of the show was collections by designers Ashima Leena, Harpreet Narula, Pernia Quereishi and Rina Dhaka. The collections were a mix of tradition as well as contemporary. We were impressed to see a riot of colours in the Banarasi weaves used extensively by Ashima Leena in their collection. All the ranges used a wide variety of Indian embroidery. Thus the clothes had a celebratory look.
The event was concluded by Rina Dhaka’s range of contemporary clothes and the show stopper was – yes – actress Karishma Kapoor! Radiating in a white – mint diaphanous saree with a hint of sequins, her walk drew long ooomphs from all corners of the audience.
To summarise, the stars alighted on the roof of Ambience Mall that evening.
