Venue: WelcomHotel Sheraton, Saket
Date: 1 July, 2017

Delhi Pavilion at Sheraton, New Delhi, in association with the first woman bartender of India, Shatbhi Basu, organized an American Whisky and Tapas evening.  The focus of the evening was to introduce the versatility of American Whiskey.

Not just information, they also added a lot of fun to drinking whiskey. They took it beyond soda and peanuts and introduced the essence of American Whiskey, its profile and how it’s different from other whiskeys (read Scotch). The pairing was filled with fun anecdotes, stories about people behind these whiskeys and what made it all special. The various whiskeys were paired with Indian Tapas curated by Chef Vipul, Delhi Pavilion and his team who kept the essence of Delhi flavours intact.

The session started almost an hour late on account of rains and some guests not being able to reach on time. This Delhi attitude went well with Delhi style food paired with American Whiskey.

Some of the food and whiskey pairing we tried

Some of the whiskeys were served as samplers without any thing and some as cocktails with pomegranate juice, citrus foam etc. The food samplers were one of the best we have ever tasted but sadly the servings were tiny and we craved for more.

As introduced in the beginning, this was a fun evening and made us aware of the big repertoire of American Whiskey and how wonderfully can one pair it with different styles of Indian food.
