Cirque du Soleil (French: “Circus of the Sun”) is a Canadian entertainment company. It is the largest theatrical producer in the world. They are coming to India for the first time to stage the show Bazzar under their huge iconic top tent. Starting from Mumbai, the next stop is Delhi.
Bazzar promises to be a show with all the razzmatazz that Cirque du Soleil is famous for. We were invited to a sundowner for an up close and personal interaction with the teams of Cirque du Soleil and BookMyShow – the company behind bringing this giant of a show to India. BookMyShow is also collaborating with the promotion and organization of the event.
The owner of Cirque du Soleil Daniel Lamarre and the director of the show briefed us about this project at an informal session at The Runway Project, Saket. It was exciting to see their enthusiasm in staging this show in India. We were told that the show has artists from several countries and nationalities. No wonder the show does not have language and there is no need to customise the show to a particular country. Move over PC – two of the artists in the cast are Indians!
The show combines daring acrobatics, vibrant costumes, live foot-tapping music, drama and comedy under one gigantic roof. We have been covering theatre for years now and from celebrity plays with Shabana Azmi or Anupam Kher or delightfully abstract foreign pieces like Utsushi at Bharat Rang Mahotsav, mentalist Nicolas Friedrich, we thought we had seen it all. In fact, we recently watched the grand production Aladdin which was another BookMyShow event. Yet Bazzar promises to be a true blockbuster – the “baap” of all shows as we say in Delhi.
Bazzar is going to be staged during 25 December 2018 to 6 January 2019 at Aerocity, New Delhi and tickets are live on BookMyShow. And now we know how to acrobatic into the New Year.
That is so exciting. I think it will be a huge success. I can’t wait to see more updates about it.
Damn, it’s gonna an amazing show and sad I’m not in town. Will wait for your post though 😉
Although i’ve never been to a show I would love to eventually attend one. They have always intrigued me.
What an unique show to attend.
That such a different concept. Seems like a neat show to attend!
