Die hard biryani lovers we are, we never miss an opportunity to try out a biryani joint. Be it Gurgaon or Kolkata we keep scouting for such joints and appending our little black book with good biryani places. Recently we visited Beeryani in GK II to attend a promotional event for a cooking oil with a bunch of foodie friends.
Two of our food loves have come together at Beeryani – Beer and Biryani. To accompany our chilled beer mug, there were some vegetarian and non vegetarian starters. Chicken tikka and paneer tikka both were tender and delicious. Stuffed soy chop stole the show though. Even hardcore carnivores like us preferred this vegetarian dish over non veg starters. Spicy, tangy and filling, these stuffed soy chops served on an ice cream stick were finger licking good.
We had veg and non veg biryani for main course. The biryani was served with salan and raita. Veg biryani somehow felt more like veg pulao and lacked that typical biryani smell and kick. In contrast, the non veg biryani was very fragrant and delicious. With tender pieces of chicken these long grains of rice covered in spices and gravy were a Mughlai food fan’s dream come true.
We ended this lunch with daal halwa. Totally sinful, this halwa was every bit worth the calories – highly recommended.
