Date: 26th to 31st January 2018
Venue: Red Fort
It is the Republic Day long weekend. The weather is just amazing and many of us are looking for fun ways to spend these holidays. You know what – patriotism can be fun too as we have realised at Bharat Parv over the years.
Bharat Parv is an event held to celebrate India’s rich and colourful culture and tradition in food, crafts, classical, and folk arts. Organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India we attended the event in the years 2015, 2016, and 2017. The idea is to promote patriotism as well highlight the rich cultural heritage of India and engage with people at large.
To commemorate Republic Day, Bharat Parv 2018 is being held now at Red Fort during 26th to 31st January 2018 from 12 pm to 10 pm. Entry is free but do carry a government-issued ID card (Aadhar / PAN card / driving license etc.) since this is checked at the entry.
From our past experiences, we can say that the highlight of the event is the display of the tableaux from the Republic Day parade. It is a great experience seeing these larger-than-life mobile installations up, close and personal. They make amazing photo opportunities as well.
In addition, there is a multi-cuisine food court that has items from various states of India. The sheer diversity is available at affordable prices.
Adjacent to the food court is a huge stage where grand cultural performances are held throughout the evenings. There are smaller stages in the fairground where Army bands keep playing.
Last but not least, we must mention the crafts fair in Bharat Parv that is any handicraft aficionado’s delight. 50 odd stalls are set up where exquisite handicrafts and textiles, mostly by recognised master craftsmen, are sold to visitors. This is a great opportunity to procure an exquisite piece of handicraft or textile and add a dimension of Indian pride to your home.
Who says being patriotic is stiffy, serious or boring? Visit Bharat Parv 2018 – they make patriotism a real Fun-do
very informative post for me as I am always looking for new content that can help me and my knowledge grow better.
I’m the master craftsmen of lac bangles and lac jewellery and lac handicraft and I want to participate in any craft fair and give live demonstration of my art. Please give me the opportunity to attend the programme. Thanks.
