Marwari Thali – Royal Dining Experience At Bhanwar Niwas
Just before summer set in, we flew to Bikaner to do a last round of Rajasthan for the season. We packed in a lot during this short trip and do check this space for our posts. Today we write about the Marwari Thali that we had in Bikaner. That too, in a real haveli, Bhanwar Niwas, a family homestead for generations. The Marwari Thali here was full of surprises.

Dinner with Muzaffar Ali And Meera Ali at Maashra
Muzaffar and Meera Ali have opened up their homestead in Gurgaon and set up a tent restaurant “Maashra”. Maashra offers a fine dining experience in line with the royal cuisine of Awadh. We recently had a 6 course meal over 4 hours here. Sitting in Gurgaon, it was travel to another space in another era.
Karni Mata Temple – World Famous Temple with 25000 rats
Karni Mata Temple is perhaps the most popular destination in Bikaner. Karni Mata is a local avatar of Goddess Durga. But the temple has gained a reputation for housing approximately 25000 rats inside the temple premise. This site has been covered by many international travel programs mostly on this account and has visitors from all over the world. We wanted to see for ourselves whether it was just another “rat race”. We stand humbled.
Cafe Meets Restaurant at Zorambo – A Caftaurant in Gurugram
What happens when you combine “Café” and “Restaurant”? Apparently it is a “Caftaurant” – Zorambo on Golf Course Road, Gurgaon. We recently attended the launch of Zorambo and surveyed it firsthand. We were in exalted company since the bestselling author Chetan Bhagat attended the launch as well.
Our stay at Hotel Gaj Kesri – an Art Hotel in Bikaner
Gaj Kesri crudely translated would mean -“King of Elephants”. We recently stayed at Hotel Gaj Kesri, part of Basavana Art Hotels, in Bikaner, Rajasthan for three days. It is about 30 minutes from the Bikaner airport and very close to the desert. Art meets comfort and luxury at Hotel Gaj Kesri and it felt like oasis.

The Art Gallery of Embassy of Peru recently gave collaborations a different connotation. They hosted Latin American and Caribbean food festival at this venue. We were a little wary about how to deal with this invite. About seven different cuisines were to be served under the same roof and they were competing for the best country in terms of food. This could be a food fight like no other.

Cinépolis has collaborated with the acclaimed Chef Saransh Goila to revamp their menu. We were invited for the launch of NEW MENU for FOODIES at Cinépolis, Saket. To keep up with changing tastes of consumers, they have added a host of new items on their menu. The new menu is available at all Cinépolis theatres across the country.

Years ago, a newspaper showed a small photo of Shikari Devi temple in Chindi, a serene Himachal spot. It resembled a Swiss meadow, intriguing us to locate it.
