Cafe Amaretto – Italian dining in Gurgaon

Feb 7, 2018 | Food

Golf Course Road in Gurgaon looks stunning what with all the newly built roads and underpasses. And fantastic dining options. In fact, it is the season for love and we wanted to give a heads-up as to where you could have a romantic dinner. To this end, here is taking you to Cafe Amaretto, a hidden treasure in South Point Mall, Golf Course Road, Gurgaon.

It is a calm and serene looking dining place. Dim lights, soft colours; contemporary paintings on the wall. The ambiance set our mood for rest of the evening that comprised soups – entre – main course – desserts.

They serve Italian and some other European dishes. No surprise it is a longish menu and we landed up ordering many items. Most of the dishes are a full 5/5. For example – the spicy mushroom soup with that thin layer of cream floating on the top was a balance between spicy and mild. The thin cheese wafer that came with it was a dish on its own. The baked mushroom stuffed with feta and red pepper was an amazing combo. The simplicity of feta cheese provided body and flavour without tampering much with the taste of the other ingredients. In fact, we did not expect much from the customary pizza that we can’t but order at an Italian place. The Oriental Pizza – full of vegetables and dripping with chedar cheese, was therefore a melt in the mouth surprise.

Food pictures are the latest craze across the world so we ordered the Spinach and Ricotta Cresfelle that looked just amazing on the plate. The trouble was this dish filled us up and we were not done yet. Caesar Salad came to the rescue. The fresh crunchy piece of heaven with some croutons was one of the tastiest Caesar salads we have had ever. We had also ordered Barbeque Chicken Bruschetta for starters and found this passable.

The desserts deserve a separate paragraph. We ordered the Amaretto Dessert Platter that comprised slices of Strawberry Cheese Cake, Salt and Caramel Cake and Tiramisu. The Tiramisu was just awesome – we could taste coffee in the mascarpone cheese. We also loved the hint of sea salt that is oh-so-in some of the desserts now. The Strawberry Cheese Cake was also an intelligent preparation as in the strawberry pulp topping did not interfere with the taste of the cheese cake. To sum it up – desserts are a must have at Cafe Amaretto. “Amaretto” – we came to know is a wine from Italy.

Speaking of wines, we sipped Rose Wine throughout the meal. This sweetish appertif can light up a Valentine’s dinner table. For teetotalers, Amaretto has fresh lime juice, cappuccino, latte – all preparations oozing quality.

Yes, we loved this place. Lovely ambiance. Great food. a 5 on 5 experience as they say. Last but not the least, fantastic hospitality. The waiters were warm and conscientious and that added oodles of joy to our experience.

We are coming back to Cafe Amaretto again since it is a Fun-do – our style.
