The Delhi Book Fair was recently held at Pragati Maidan during August 29 – September 6, 2015. It presented a wide gamut of books on a variety of subjects from publishers in India and abroad. Notwithstanding the warm and sticky weather, the fair registered a decent foot fall. In addition to the Book Fair, Stationery Fair and Corporate Gifts Fair were held concurrently.
Dastkar Desert Crafts’ Bazaar 2015 (20 – 31 August, 2015) was recently held at Kisaan Haat,, off Chhattarpur Metro Station. The exhibition involved sale of handcrafted merchandise from the desert regions of Gujarat and Rajasthan. Additionally, there were makeshift stalls selling regional food as well as cultural performances in the open amphitheater.
Sharbat Mela is a cool and very apt festival in Scorching Delhi Summer. A lot of small and big scale manufacturers of Sharbat, Kulfi and Shake mixes exhibit here and provide samplers for people to taste and buy. It’s a cool and fun way to beat the heat.
Surajkund International Crafts Mela 2015 was an event that managed to pull craft enthusiasts as well as the general public. The festive mood of this fair can’t but uplift the spirit of the visitor.
The Delhi World Book Fair 2015 is an annual event that is held in Pragati Maidan. In the present era of e-commerce, one doesn’t need to visit a book store. However the sheer joy of flipping through a book and lucrative discounts (in that order) ensures that Book Fairs are not passe. It was a fun sight at New Delhi World Book Fair to see shopping carts meant for groceries and provisions filled with books.
The Jaipur Literature Festival is an annual literary festival held in Jaipur early on every year. Jaipur is a mere 4 – 6 hours journey from Delhi. Book lover or not, if you are up for fresh experiences, visit it.
New Delhi World Book Fair is not limited to the book worms. With all special halls for kids, stall with live shows and competitions, quizzes, demonstrations, gift items stalls, attractive stationary, live chat, comics etc., the fair attracts all and sundry.
India Art Fair is an annual art exhibition that brings together a variety of art work from India as well as other parts of the world. Given the proximity of the venue to Govindpuri Metro Station, and the parking woes, one may skip driving and opt for the metro.
Surajkund Crafts Fair 2015
Surajkund crafts fair is visited by lovers of arts and crafts from all over the world.The undulating topography of Surajkund adds to the charm of the event. The aesthetically done up fair ground – with various colourful canopies, festoons and other ornaments permeate the mind and uplift the spirit.
Dastkaar Bazaar at Dilli Haat is a great destination for patrons of craft as well as somebody out to have a day out. Given the colourful ambience, it is a very suitable destination for shutterbugs as well.

Pragati Maidan hosts the Bigg Boss of all fairs – IITF 2014. India International Trade Fair is a platform where one comes across many innovations, agriculture products, weaving, crafts and cottage industries along with a host of options for food and entertainment.
Pet Fed 2014 – The first pet convention in India held at Delhi Haat INA. The pet convention had fun events such as a fashion show, “Pupcake Baking contest” (baking for pets), puppy therapy stall and even an adoption camp. The fair brought together makers of dog food, dog dresses, pet shampoos and other supplies for pets and pet owners.
The 34th India International Trade Fair (IITF 2014) is scheduled between 14 – 27 November, 2014 at Pragati Maidan. With a gamut of well designed theme state pavilions, international stalls, a mesh of hardcore engineering and craft products, the fair promises to be a mega event as always.
