Date: 10 July 2019
Venue: Lajpat Nagar, Delhi
Our interview has been published by the well-known social media platform Social Samosa. That’s an achievement we wanted to celebrate last evening. We were just out of Wagh Bakhri Lajpat Nagar and thought a slice of Red Velvet cake would have been in order. But it was late already and we sort of postponed the cake cutting till later and started walking towards our car. Suddenly we heard a bright hello from roadside and we saw Sara calling out to us. On an earlier message, she had informed that she has started her cake shop Let’s Bake Love at Lajpat Nagar. In fact, she had invited us but we couldn’t make time. She was now standing in front of the floral gate of her cool looking store and beckoning us. In no time she ushered us in to her little bakery wonderland.
The store was small but done up in all subtlety that reminded us of vanilla icing with strawberry toppings. Her showcase was full of cookies, cupcakes, cake jars, cookie jars and brownies. Sara, on her own accord, offered a Red Velvet cupcake. She was positively psychic or this was sheer clairvoyance as we were just talking about this cake a while back.
We were delighted that the universe was listening to us all along! We had a little cake cutting ceremony to celebrate the recent milestones in our journey. With the ritual done, we took a bite in the mouth and it was oh-so-good. Very moist, sweetened just right, the cake was a perfect blend with the vanilla cream topping.
We had already finished our dinner and with the perfect dessert at Let’s Bake Love, it was time to say good bye to Sara. In that process the conversation veered to Salted Caramel flavour, another favourite with us. That’s not a very common flavour found in Delhi bakeries but Sara just popped out a Salted Caramel Chocolate cupcake and kept it in front of us. Throwing all calories concerns out of the door, we gorged into this. But not before taking some pictures since the dark chocolate cupcake, topped with golden sprinkles, was a shutterbug’s delight.
We loved the gooey molten caramel sauce that was hidden inside the cake. The fusion taste was a riot on taste-buds. The cake could have been a little more moist and we would have loved it more. But do remember, bakery is a handmade process and each batch of products taste different. Sara was home bakers till recent and a warm informal touch prevailed in her cake shop.
Sara had some full cakes in the show case and her star was Nutella Ferrero cake. But we were bursting our seams and decided to come back and try this another day. But we had some cookies and cupcakes packed. The cookies were perfectly crisp with coffee this morning. Talking about coffee, Sara serves coffee in her bakery and has some limited sitting arrangement too in her cake land.
Do look out for Let’s Bake Love and fill your next celebration with more love. As we did last evening.
