If you’re ready to move beyond the cool ambiance of Sagar Ratna and the friendly vibes of Naivaidyam, give Chidambaram a try. This small South Indian eatery in Khanna Market, Lodhi Colony, offers a unique take on traditional South Indian cuisine.

Ambiance and Decor
We recently visited Chidambaram for dinner. The place is small but clean, with a simple decor featuring a statue of Chidambaram temple on a wooden stand, good air conditioning, and a soothing sandalwood incense fragrance. Their menu even includes a description of Chidambaram temple, adding an interesting cultural touch to the dining experience.
Welcome Drink and Chutneys
As a welcome drink, they served Rasam, which was very hot and spicy, accompanied by three typical South Indian chutneys – red, white, and green.
Today’s Specials
On the ‘Today’s Special’ list, we found some unique options. We ordered the 3in1 Uttapam, a plate with three small Uttapams – Coconut, Mix Veg, and Paneer. This concept allows you to taste three different Uttapams in one plate, and we loved it. The serving was enough for two of us, but we had also ordered the Soy Dosa from their specials. This thin and light Masala Dosa, made with soy flour, was soft and enjoyable.
Dessert and Coffee
Despite being full, the reasonable prices tempted us to try more. We ordered Kesari Bhat for dessert and coffee. The freshly made Kesari Bhat was low on sweetness and looked amazing, while the coffee was good too.
Service
The staff was courteous and friendly, and the serving time was reasonable. Chidambaram may not be a fine dining venue, but it is definitely a recommended eatery for delicious, pocket-friendly South Indian food.
