Calling out the Punjabis. And the Bengalis. We just realised, DelhiFunDos and the cloud kitchen Currynama, a brand under Seven Seas Kitchens, have a solid bond. DelhiFunDos is a project by a Punjabi and a Bengali. Likewise. Currynama serves a good fish wrapped in a leaf (like the Bengali paturi) as well as a well-cooked pot of butter chicken with equal ease.

What is Currynama?
In recent times, the way we perceive food has changed. Till a couple of years ago, an evening of eating out would be a situation of walking into a restaurant and having a meal. It was a pleasure that involved planning, dressing up, travelling and then travelling back. The pandemic has changed the narrative. Initially by way of regulations, and now somewhat by habit, we tend to stay at home.
But we still have our cravings for fancy food. These kinds of food cravings are catered by the food delivery network that has expanded in the last 2 years or so. Most restaurants and cafes now have food delivery services. They do this either through their own delivery system or through a delivery partner.
Alongside, another channel of fancy dining has opened in the last years. This is a food takeaway or delivery system directly from the kitchen. These are cloud kitchens. Currynama by Seven Seas Kitchen is one such business that has made a name for itself in the food delivery picture of Delhi NCR.
What to order at Currynama?
Currynama is known for its kebabs and desserts and Mughlai, biryani and North Indian fusion dishes. Given the diverse palette of the family, we took a poll at home and opted for a selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items. We have already mentioned the fish wrapped in banana leaf. The steaming of the fish in the banana leaf ensured that the flavours from the banana leaf as well as the spices on the fish were evenly infused in the slice of the fish.
Dum ka Murgh quite like the butter chicken was another quite common dish that calls for special mention. Sitting in Delhi you are so familiar with this item that there is no surprise left. Yet, we were impressed with the preparation from Currynama. The curd balanced the flavours of cardamom and other spices. The result was like pleasant fusion music on the tongue.
Another unique dish that we tried adventurously was Kebab Tacos. These were like kakori kebabs and seekh kebabs filled in crispy tacos. The Kebab Tacos were succulent yet light and one of the best starters we had in recent times.
Coming to the vegetarian dishes, we would highly recommend their Daal Seven Seas. It was creamy yet full of nutritive kick. On the same lines, the chholey was cooked perfectly and was seasoned with just the right quantity of spices. Both these dishes were at their Punjabi best.
Talking about spices, every dish was balanced. We did not find any dish that was over the top in terms of spiciness. In fact, the seasonings did not overpower the taste of the key ingredient of the dish.
Also if you are a biryani lover you can order their vegetarian or non-vegetarian biryanis. Not only was this the most suited staple with most of the dishes we ordered but also came in attractive packaging. We loved the handi (clay pot) sealed with dough, the traditional way, to retain the flavours.
Along with the main dishes, a host of jars with chutneys and pickled onions added to the flavours.
Last but not least, the dessert sent the Bengali heart aflutter as well. The Gurer Roshogolla is a not-to-be-missed winter delicacy.

The Rose Kheer, decked up with rose petals and pistachio slivers was a shutterbug’s delight. The pinkish delicacy is something you should order if you want to do your Valentine’s Day in an offbeat style.
Currynama also delivers combos or what we commonly know as thalis. We look forward to trying that soon.
Was it worth the experience?

To answer this question, we shall resort to the following observation.
Firstly, the food was delivered home punctually. Secondly, brownie points for the sturdy eco-friendly packaging that whet our appetite while the food was being laid. Finally, Currynama spread was worth every calorie we consumed. Every item was harmonious with the taste buds. Not a single spice or taste was out of tune. So that is a YES from us.
