Venue: Nature Bazaar, Kisan Haat, Andheria Modh
Date: 10 – 19 October, 2014
Dastkar’s annual autumn Nature Bazaar this year is called Festival of Lights. Held at Kisan Haat at Andheria Modh, this is a rich collection of Indian handicrafts by way of weaves and artefacts. The goods displayed at this exhibition are a notch refined than the more affordable Indian crafts available at Delhi Haat. Like any other Nature Bazaar this year too, the display is rich and has artisans participating from various corners of India.
Clothes, yardage, décor items and accessories dominate the fair. This time we also saw a proliferation of plants. However it was slightly disappointing to see very little light at a Diwali do. The place lacked bright illumination that is such a regimen for any Diwali mela. Infact the light options were mostly electric lamps that are available in any crafty place.
Dastkar earlier had their biannual Nature Bazaars with one or two other events thrown in during the year. After moving to Kissan Haat they keep having craft exhibitions every other day. We agree that the more the merrier. That said, the exhibitions have become a tad monotonous and we hope they manage to reclaim their oomph.
