Delhi Shopping Festival 2023 – Dates

One of the first things that struck the Calcuttan between us is how diverse was the population of Delhi NCR. Be it the malls or the metro, you can see and hear chatter from people from all parts of India and abroad. Being such a melting pot of culture, it is obvious that Delhi would be characterized by eclectic tastes. And budgets.

For a newbie in Delhi, it is therefore surprising that shopping areas selling traditional goods are just a few minutes distances from the swankiest of shopping malls with modern-day opulence. We know of so many people, family, and friends, who visit Delhi before a family wedding or any other special event just to shop. Our experience is that the best of products, be it handloom, handicraft, or brand, come to Delhi.

Drawing from this buoyant business environment, the Government of Delhi has announced the Delhi Shopping Festival dates from 28th January to 26th February 2023. The month-long festival aims to engage not only local businesses but also traders from other parts of India. It promises to be an exciting experience that should go beyond just buying and selling.

Delhi Shopping Festival – What to expect?

Delhi will be demarcated into 5 zones – North, South, East, West, and Central for the shopping festival. 15 iconic markets and 10 malls across all the zones would be used as venues for the festival. In addition, all major malls and shopping areas would be decorated and illuminated.

Grand opening and closing ceremonies have been planned where many star artists would perform. Tickets for these ceremonies would be available in due time. The program would also be telecast on select channels.

A variety of businesses would be involved to cater to the myriad needs of shoppers. Shoppers can expect attractive discounts as well as gifts and prizes for their shopping. The shopping festival would also involve food options. Food walks are in the offing. So yes, we hope this is some kind of food fest too.

There would be cultural performances and artists would be invited from Delhi and beyond. There are promises of big concerts, magic shows, and entertainment for children.

To encourage participation from businesses and visitors from outside Delhi, the government is planning to offer special discount packages on airline tickets, train tickets, and hotel accommodations.

Why should you visit Delhi Shopping Festival?

From what we read, Delhi Shopping Festival organisers are going all out in trying to make this a mega event. The festival is being designed like a carnival with shopping and so much more.

February is one of the best months to visit Delhi anyway. So if you are planning a visit, you can time it with this festival. You can shop and eat and tour to glory in Delhi.

The goal of the event is to stir the economy, generate business, create employment and boost tourism. If it is a regular annual event, maybe it would pip the Dubai Shopping Festival or the Great Singapore Sale. Fingers crossed!
