SUMMARY:Offering - Chameli Ramachandran's Solo Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Vadehra Art Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of artworks by artist Chameli Ramachandran. Offering is a presentation of watercolour paintings taken from the artist’s oeuvre from around a decade ago. The show will open at our modern art gallery space on 27 August 2024 and will remain on view until 16 September 2024. \nChameli Ramachandran nurtures an immersive and entrancing relationship with nature\, which strikes as an impulse to paint the skeletal and spiritual structures of different varieties of flowers\, clusters of shrubbery\, and the canopies of trees over and over again. In her nature studies\, Chameli expands the symbolic vocabulary of these pastoral elements and their parts – through a long list of protagonists\, including various kinds of lilies\, chrysanthemums\, carnations\, orchids\, hibiscus\, silk cotton\, and crotons among others – by viewing them as metaphors for life and death. She notes their sudden budding or blooming as a celebratory arrival of beauty\, grace\, and fragrance\, only to wilt shortly thereafter. The physiological transformations in their existence seem to mimic our own cycle of life\, which is entrenched in an inevitable decay yet remains guided by the promise of consistent regeneration. The dramatic personae she accords to these nature studies varies in curiosity and context\, though they all retain a benign loveliness and connect a viewer – through meditation\, ecstasy\, and melancholy – to the view they hold. They strive for balance\, presence\, and luminescence\, achieved through precise colour\, chromatics\, and texture\, feeling personal and warm while also transcendental. \nDate: 27 August – 16 September 2024\nTime: 6–8 PM\nVenue: Vadehra Art Gallery

SUMMARY:Art Exhibition - Blind Spot by Aditya Pande
DESCRIPTION:Nature Morte is excited to present an exhibition of new works by acclaimed Delhi-based artist Aditya Pande. Represented by Nature Morte since 2007\, Pande has had solo shows in New Delhi in 2011\, 2017\, 2019\, and 2022\, as well as a solo show at Alexia Goethe Gallery in London in 2009. \nArtist’s Technique\nAditya Pande’s artwork exists on multiple planes\, merging sophisticated computerized methods with rudimentary mark-making techniques. His pieces are a juxtaposition of playfulness and grotesqueness\, culture and animalism\, orchestration and spontaneity\, reveling in the structures of pure gibberish. \nPande creates complex images on the computer\, which are then printed on paper\, canvas\, or vinyl. His paper works are framed\, with the artist adding hand-applied marks and attaching various objects and materials to the acrylic sheets. The final products are hybrids of drawing\, painting\, and collage\, often leaving viewers puzzled about their construction. \nImagery and Themes\nPande’s imagery is both alluring and cryptic\, reminiscent of cosmological diagrams and graphic universes from Jainism and Hindu beliefs. His works reflect the primordial ooze from which matter and energy emerge\, using spills\, stains\, and tangled strings to create his cosmology. The languages in his art are composed of stutters\, hiccups\, grunts\, and nervous tics. \nPande’s cosmos features beings that mimic aliens\, insects\, phantasms\, and freaks\, often reflecting aspects of ourselves. His style integrates subject and object\, resulting in a chaotic multiplicity that defies categorization within Western Art History genres like Surrealism\, Pop Art\, or Action Painting. South Asia’s diverse and polymorphous visual and conceptual ancestry is at the heart of his work\, leaving viewers feeling untethered between prehistoric cave paintings and science fiction fantasies. \nExhibition Dates: August 14 – September 8\nGallery Hours: Tuesday – Sunday\, 11 AM – 7 PM\nVenue: Nature Morte Gallery\, New Delhi

SUMMARY:Cartographical Tales: India through Maps
DESCRIPTION:Cartographical Tales: India through Maps | An Exhibition of Historical Maps from the 17th century to 1946. \nAnubhav Nath\, Curatorial Director of Ojas Art\, presents “Cartographical Tales: India through Maps” – an exhibition of unseen historical maps from the 17th century to 1946. \nMaps play a vital role in defining national borders. Before independence\, India included Pakistan and Bangladesh (then East Pakistan). Post-independence\, these regions became three separate nations. \nIn recognition of India’s 78th year of independence\, maps by prominent cartographers like Seutter\, Rennell\, Mortier\, Lapie\, Bonne\, and Tallis will be exhibited. Each map tells a unique story\, highlighting the shifting boundaries over the centuries. These maps\, printed in England\, France\, Italy\, and the USA\, provide insight into the subcontinent’s historical geography. Every map recounts a story that traces back through history. \nCartography\, depicting geographical areas\, peaked in the 17th-19th centuries as explorers charted new territories and accurately marked locations using longitudes and latitudes. This period saw extensive commissioning of maps by Western powers. Cartography also serves an educational purpose\, helping to understand changing geographical boundaries and their causes. The displayed collection emphasizes maps of Pre-Independence India\, encompassing present-day India\, Pakistan\, and Bangladesh. \nApproximately 100 maps will be on display. \nVenue: Ojas Art\, 1AQ\, Near Qutub Minar\, Mehrauli\, New Delhi \nDate: August 02\, 2024 – September 22\, 2024 \nTime: 11 am to 7 pm every day (closed on Mondays and National holidays)

SUMMARY:Contours of Continuum
DESCRIPTION:Contours of Continuum a solo exhibition by Yashwant Deshmukh from 15th March to 25th April 2024. \nContours of Continuum is a solo show exhibiting paintings by Yashwant Deshmukh. Yashwant is a contemporary Indian artist known for his contemplative style depicting the lack of movement or the stillness of space. His abstract and meditative style heavily relies on symbolism and functions as a bridge between the material and the spiritual. \nYashwant Deshmukh invites viewers into a world of otherworldly serenity. In this realm\, the boundaries between form and space dissolve\, and objects take on a mystical significance as conduits for metaphysical exploration. The ethereal compositions transport us to an endless and fluid landscape where we are invited to lose ourselves in contemplation. Through the masterful use of colours\, textures\, and arrangement\, Deshmukh delves into the intricate relationship between memory\, perception\, and intuition\, provoking us to reflect on the very essence of existence. \n Date: 15th March to 25th April 2024\nGallery Timing: 11 am – 7 pm\nVenue: Art Alive Gallery\nS-221\, Panchsheel Park\, New Delhi 110017

SUMMARY:Water\, the bliss
DESCRIPTION:Water–the Bliss\, is the second solo Art exhibition of Artist\, Architect & Author Shikha Setia. In this series of artwork\, Shikha is celebrating the joy of water all around us. \n“We are water\, the dynamic fluid\, continuously working on its own movement\, paving its way\, mingling everywhere and focussed on its lure downwards. Rain is an emotion to me. Capturing that emotion on my canvas\, with my brush in a movement is just like the falling of rain\, once it decides to fall. It is so enigmatic”\, says Shikha. \nAnd then there are the reminiscent drops\, hung onto the leaves\, skin\, glass\, grass and what not..I am mesmerised by the calmness\, translucence\, and reflective quality of those. The flowing water in its rhythm and forming ever-changing ripples and the gushing water churning out sculptures is enchanting to me. \nMy paintings are joyful. They celebrate water. A puddle or a drop on a leaf\, the fog or the impending storm\, a hint or abundance of it\, is all an emotion. And a reminder that we should celebrate its existence\, acknowledge its importance\, and for sure conserve it. Sans water there is no life. \nOn display\, will be over 40 paintings\, in all sizes\, from handy sizes to as big as 5 by 5 feet. The medium is oil on canvas\, acrylic on canvas\, and mixed media. \nAbout Shikha (Artist)\nThe artwork of Shikha is characterised by the ‘sense of being’ and of fulfillment and contentment. Her paintings are a whiff of fresh air. They are intrinsically inspired by nature and by the emotions one feels in consonance with the elements. And they speak of the musings of humans with their surroundings as the elementary force. \nOne of her paintings is displayed in a museum\, in UAE. Also\, she has won the A3 Foundation Award 2023 for her novel\, ‘Through the Shades’. The novel is about the journey of artists through continents\, inner growth\, creative expenditure of learning\, and relationships with people and their traits. Serendipity is one of her favorite words and through the lens of hope and joy\, she keeps her curious-self engaged. \nDate: Mar 12th to 16th\, 2024\nTiming: 10:00 am till 08:00 pm\nVenue: Visual Art Gallery\nIndia Habitat Centre\, Lodhi Road\, New Delhi – 110003
