SUMMARY:Inscapes: In Search of a Place
DESCRIPTION:Bhavna Kakar Presents Inscapes: In Search of a Place Curated by Premjish Achari on view from December 19th\, 2023 till December 24th\, 2023 at the Bikaner House\, New Delhi.\n \n“Inscapes: In Search of a Place\,” is an all-encompassing odyssey into the depths of artistic exploration\, where landscapes shift from mere external backdrops to internal gateways. Through these portals\, one is transported into a mesmerizing tapestry of human emotion and imagination\, spiraling through the infinite complexities of the soul’s deepest desires and fears. \nBasist Kumar\, Satori\, Oil on Linen\, 96 1/2 x 62 in 245.1 x 157.5 cm\, 2023 \nThroughout the annals of time and across diverse civilizations\, landscapes have stood as powerful backdrops for tales spun by brilliant artists. Yet\, within this kaleidoscope of creative expression\, the landscape reveals itself not as a singular entity but as a mosaic of textured terrain\, a symphony of colors\, brushstrokes\, photographic impressions\, and residues of drawings that speak to the wondrous heterogeneity found within this genre. \nThis exhibition beckons you to join us on a curatorial voyage\, a rediscovery of the contemporary engagement with landscape—one that goes beyond traditional depictions. In this realm of “inscapes\,” nature is not just a reflection of reality\, but a manifestation of the artist’s inner self. Drawing inspiration from the Sangam tradition of poetry\, where emotional landscapes intertwine with the physical\, we embark on an odyssey to unravel the depths of meaning within the landscape that surrounds us. \nThe exhibition will have works from the following artists: \nAbhay Bhalla | Anupama Alias | Arindam Manna | Atul Bhalla | Basist Kumar | Chandan Bez Baruah | Divya Singh | Ganesh Haloi | Gigi Scaria | Hemangini Maharaul | Iranna G.R. | Jagannath Panda | Josh P. Waswo | Unnikrishnan C | Shubham Kumar | Madhurjya Dey \nExhibition Dates: 19th December 2023 to 24th December 2023\nTimings: Monday to Saturday\, 11 AM – 7 PM\nVenue: CCA\, First Floor\, Bikaner House

SUMMARY:Echoes of Unfathomed Worlds
DESCRIPTION:Echoes of Unfathomed Worlds solo art exhibition by Delhi-based artist Jagannath Panda\n \nJagannath Panda’s artistic journey has seen significant milestones\, including his last solo exhibition Crystal Cities in 2017 at Vadehra Art Gallery in New Delhi\, and Trance Land at London’s Halcyon Gallery in 2015. His works have gained widespread recognition across South Asia\, Europe\, and parts of America. With 26 works across scales and intent on view\, Panda’s presentation is an amalgamation of materiality and techniques that expound on diverse subjective areas\, including philosophical purviews\, architectural detailing\, perceptive impressions of his natural surroundings as well as personal memories – all enmeshed in the grand expression of a cosmos. \nThe exhibition is accompanied by a literary note written by the curator\, writer\, and filmmaker Premjish Achari. To quote from Achari’s essay: “His [Panda’s] works are a defiant challenge to the very boundaries of reality\, pushing us beyond our preconceived limits…stirring up profound depths within our consciousness…Here\, the universe is not a far-reaching theory\, but a living sensation that envelops us. It is not simply made up of planets and stars but of intricate components – fabric\, salvaged items\, pieces of text – an intricate mosaic of myths\, shapes\, and the quintessential human spirit.” \nDate: 8 December 2023 to 19 January 2024 \nTimings: 6 pm – 8 pm \nVenue: D-53 Defence Colony\, New Delhi

SUMMARY:In the Forests of the Night
DESCRIPTION:In the Forests of the Night\, works by Tara Sabharwal (2014 – 2023) is a part of the third edition of Delhi Art Week. The exhibition takes off from this very enquiry of observing the process of creativity and abstraction that emerges from the subliminal. Psychologists employ the term to mean below the threshold of consciousness. A plane of being that absorbs all experiences\, just as the way night absorbs all light or black absorbs all colour. A perceptive space that dissolves light and shadow into a mythic experience of the subliminal\, that Leonard Mlodinow\, an American theoretical physicist and mathematician\, terms as the new unconsciousness. \nTara Sabharwal’s abstraction is a walk into the forests of the night\, where the cognitive faculties are refined to suit more than one purpose. In the manner where the auditory\, olfactory\, and tactile faculties chart the map of envisioning the way into the forest\, that metaphorically represents the subliminal. Each of the series presented in the exhibition are mnemonic patterns bridging the worlds of the new unconsciousness to the conscious. Unlike abstraction that derives from minimizing nature/landscape\, or an abstraction that is composed through the notations of sound and music\, or an abstraction that reflects the memory of a place; Tara’s abstraction blurs all conscious attempts of reality and presents the invisible roots that govern conscious-visible existence. \nA solo show In the Forest of the Night by the artist Tara Sabharwal. \nThe show is curated by Jesal Thacker and is on from Friday\, 8th December 2023 till 15th December 2023 at Living Traditions Center\, Bikaner House.  \nDate: 8th December\, 2023 to 15th December\, 2023 \nTimings: 5 PM-8 PM\nVenue: Living Traditions Center\, Bikaner House\, New Delhi

SUMMARY:Exhibition: TAR-ART An Anagram of My Life
DESCRIPTION:Experience Simran KS Lamba’s upcoming mixed-media artwork\, “TAR-ART An Anagram of My Life\,” an enthralling fusion of time\, aesthetics\, resonance\, assimilation\, residue\, and technique\, at Visual Arts Gallery from December 8\, 2023\, to December 12\, 2023\, where he presents an outstanding showcase of artistic brilliance to the art world. As an Indian mixed media artist\, sculptor\, and installation artist based in New Delhi\, his work’s artistic expression is a journey that often absorbs the world around it and allows for a process of amalgamation that reunites the discarded with the new found\, thereby harnessing notions of individuality with those of unison and the composite whole. \nThe artist explores the materiality of mediums\, juxtaposing their inherent properties to create captivating vantage points. Recycling is a core focus\, with discarded waste often serving as a focal point. Techniques are key\, with each work mutating over long periods\, resulting in textures and surfaces. This solo show showcases the slow unwinding process of time and techniques used to create final iterations. He is introspective and intuitive\, exploring diverse subjects derived from memory\, dreams\, and imagination. He believes in capturing form through their sub-consciousness and thinking mind\, directing appendages in a hypnotic state rather than structured patterns. \nThe artist continues to work independently on his mixed media artwork\, sculptures\, and installations\, pushing the boundaries of his technique and expression capturing several unexplored facets of multi-dimensional media\, often combining dexterous technique and an inimitable thought process. According to Simran KS Lamba\, “Tar and Art have always been synonymous in nature for me\, in using Tar to create paintings\, I believe that everyday materials get transposed into a realm where nuances of the said materials resonate in different and multiple ways\, having found a new lease of life in the form of a new work of art.” \nJoin to meet the artist\, talk about inspirations\, and mingle with other enthusiasts as you explore different creative genres and let your imagination run wild! \nDate: December 8\, 2023 to December 12\, 2023 \nTime: 10 AM to 8 PM \nVenue: Visual Arts Gallery\,\nIndia Habitat Centre\, Lodhi Road\, New Delhi \n
