Factory by Sutra is a Gastro pub in the over cluttered Sector 29 market of Gurgaon. Factory is not just a restaurant or Pub but a co-working space and that makes it different from other restaurants in this area like Warehouse Cafe, Sense of Spirits, Chin Chin and Hunter Valley. They provide good work space and WiFi for a monthly subscription which is redeemable against food and drinks.

We went to Factory for a Saturday lunch with a bunch of friends. We had the restaurant’s signature starters with Chivas Regal. Bhindi naachos and Delhi 6 were interesting and well presented finger food. Interestingly these were best eaten by fingers only. The bhindi was very finely chopped and quite crispy and it was tough to eat by fork or spoon. Similarly Delhi 6 was dahi stuffed gol gappa garnished with sev and coriander.  This dish gets soggy and should be eaten with hands else can make it messy for you. We also tried veg Quesadillas that were served with fresh salsa and a yogurt dip. We would have liked the Quesadillas better if they were slightly thinner.

Since it was Navratri we stuck to vegetarian food. For main course we had vegetables Chettinad style along with plain naan. This was mixed vegetable cooked in coconut milk, Southern style and was hot, fresh and absolutely delicious. The South Indian spices and flavor were intact in the Chettinad vegetables.

We had a spoon of veg Biryani, Paneer do pyaaza and Daal from our friends’ platter and these tasted good as well.

Desserts were tad bit disappointing. Specially Tiramisu, which didn’t taste like Tiramisu at all. Apple crumble pie was better than Tiramisu. The Choco lava cake which was a little too salty for us. All the desserts were served with ice cream.

Factory by Sutra can be a decent option for startups and freelancers who are looking for a co-working space with WiFi along with good food and prompt service.
