Date: 5th March, 2019
Venue: Orana Conventions, Gurugram
It was heartening to see that beauty is not only skin-deep any more. We are talking about the fbb Colors Femina Miss India North 2019 finale at Orana Conventions, Gurgaon. As part of the invited media for the event, we were most impressed with the liberal definition of beauty that is gradually percolating in the Indian mindset as well.
All the 20 odd finalists from 7 states were young girls who seemed to be way more than pretty faces. They were dentists, aspirant teachers, history and social science students who also aspired for the Miss India crown. In fact, the talent round winner, Pragati Wahi from Delhi is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer. Winner or not, these girls are all stars in their own right.
And what a star studded evening was this! The judges for the evening were star model Rahul Dev; actress Minissha Lamba; Meenakshi Chaudhary, Miss Grand International 2018 first runner-up, and Gayatri Bharadwaj, fbb Colors Femina Miss India United Continents, 2018. The host for the evening was the singer – actress from MTV fame – Sophie Choudry. The brightest star perhaps was the gorgeous Dia Mirza, ex Miss India and winner of Miss Asia Pacific, 2000. She was part of the jury and had been a mentor to the contestants. The Punjabi pop star Hardy Sandhu performed during the show and had the audience literally dance to his tunes.
The concluding part of the evening was the crowing ceremony and befittingly, Dia Mirza did the honours. Among the 21 contestants, one girl each from Delhi, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh wore the crown. We cheered hard for Mansi Sehgal, Miss India Delhi 2019, and the other winners as well.
Here is wishing all the fbb Colors Femina Misses India North 2019 soaring success in their future pageants at home and overseas.
It’s amazing that beauty is being redefined as more than just having a pretty face but also having an intelligent mind and a kind heart. Indian women are so beautiful. 🙂
