Authentic Gujarati Thali Experience at Gujarat Bhawan, Delhi

May 8, 2015 | Food

If you’re craving a taste of traditional Gujarati cuisine in Delhi, Gujarat Bhawan in Chanakyapuri is a must-visit. The canteen here serves delicious, unlimited Thali meals that are open to the public, offering a wholesome dining experience.

We had the pleasure of trying their special Gujarati Thali, which started with a refreshing glass of Chaach (Buttermilk) that was served throughout the meal. The Thali included a variety of traditional dishes, beginning with Farsaan—a delightful mix of Mirchi Pakora and Rice Dhokla. Unlike the sweeter, fluffier versions found in places like Haldiram’s, this Dhokla was simple, mildly sweet, and satisfying.

For the main course, we enjoyed soft Chapatis, fragrant Rice, and signature dishes like Sweet Gujarati Kadhi, Veg Kofta, Dal, and Mixed Vegetables. The food was light, and flavorful perfect for a wholesome, comforting meal.
