We have healthy news guys!
We keep looking for cafes that serve health food, or, at least food that is not very heavy on the system. Since we are in South Delhi area for most of our activities, this is where we mostly hunt for such options.
Recently, we were at India Habitat Centre for Habitat Film Festival. We wanted to have some quick and light dinner in the vicinity. Though our most common choices in this area are bread omelette or Dahi Chicken at Juneja’s or good old Subway sandwiches, this time we explored another option.
Right after exiting Habitat Centre we entered Meharchand Market and saw this new restaurant with an attractive glow sign that read Dietliciouz. It looked like a health cafe. We had a Zomato Gold Card that we wanted to use. Once we figured they accept the card, we gave it a go.
It is a very small cafe with about 4 tables, decent decor and contemporary ambience. But make no mistake, the menu is extensive. We were happy that whatever we chose from the menu was available – they didn’t say, “We don’t have this or we don’t have that.” Brownie points for that.
We went for a Hawaiian chicken sandwich and a soya veggie pizza. The sandwich was huge and it was cut into 4 pieces. This was good enough for two of us but we had no idea before ordering so we realised that it would be difficult for us to finish all this food. The sandwich was tasty. The chicken was grilled to perfection and pineapple slices added that sweet and sour combination that we really really love. In fact, along with chicken and pineapple, there were bell pepper and other vegetables inside the sandwich. It was a wholesome meal and we loved it.
The other dish, pizza looked beautiful and somewhat different from normal pizza. It had thin wheat base and soya topping along with colourful vegetables and herbs. The only thing that did not work with the pizza was the fact that it was a little too dry for us. Secondly, it lacked the kick of pizza. We appreciate that they are trying to make a healthier version of the pizza. Maybe they could use a low fat cheese or some other binding ingredient instead of mozzarella that gives any pizza taste and flavour. Nevertheless, the pizza was healthy and quite unique.
They also have some smoothies and cold pressed juices but we didn’t try the drinks. We wanted to have some tea or coffee after dinner but they don’t serve these beverages.
Nevertheless, given the prices and the serving size, this place is value for money and definitely a healthier way of eating out. Because of Zomato Gold discount we were done with our dinner for around Rs 300/- at Dietliciouz Cafe. Not bad at all and rarely does it get healthier than this.
I haven’t visited Delhi, but my husband loves traveling to new places so I’m sure I’ll find my self there some day! This is a great find, I’ll keep this restaurant in mind for when I inevitably end up there!
We are visiting South Delhi next year and I am saving this one for future use!
Let us know how was your experience.
