Venue: Rajouri Garden
Date: 4 August 2015
High Street Café is located in a cluster of restaurants off Rajouri Garden Metro Station and we could feel the impact of the upcoming weekend on the chaotic parking scene as early as 7 pm.
The restaurant is on the second floor and it is good to see that they had a functional lift in place (makes it easily accessible for elderly or people with disabilities). To work up an appetite we chose to take the stairs. Once inside, we realised that it was more of a pub than a cosy cafe. The first things that meet ones eyes are the bar and the party crowd. They had a live DJ playing really loud music.
We ordered a roasted chicken salad that was all cabbage with few shreds of chicken. It was served in a transparent jar and looked fancy though. For main course we ordered a chicken quesadilla. We had asked the chef to make it mild and were assured that this was absolutely bland. Hence were quite shocked when we tasted this and realised that the stuffing of the quesadilla pockets was super spicy.
Our experience was just about OK. The staff is untrained and that doesn’t help. Perhaps we choose a wrong evening! Somehow we don’t want to write off this place completely and will give it another shot. Maybe.
