Monsoon’s here in Delhi NCR and so are monsoon deals, discounts and what concerns us foodies – Monsoon special menu. We recently tried Monsoon Specials at Informal, Janpath. This is owned by guys behind Imperfecto and this one we liked even better.

The cafe is located on Tolstoy lane right behind Janpath and is quite a cute one. Decor is easy on eyes and as the name suggests very informal. There’s a live band playing everyday, simple soothing numbers that don’t interfere with your conversations.

The Monsoon Specials

We had a few cocktails and starters from their Monsoon menu and liked most of the stuff. Grill paneer and potatoes with Cilantro cream was nice and well presented. We also liked prawns, stuffed mushrooms, charcoal grilled chicken and fish tikka. In fact all the snacks were delicious and perfect for the weather. For a lot of people chai and pakora is what monsoon food is all about. Well for folks like them, they have also included tea and assorted vegetable pakora in their menu. Though the tea lacked the kick, we liked the pakoras.

Grilled fish with butter lemon sauce and salad was nice and tender. The cocktails served in pineapple or coconut shells with fruits were also light and refreshing. Sangria was better than what we have tried at many of the other cafes.

We ended our lunch with simple desserts like Brownie-ice cream and Kheer.

Pocket Friendly Buffet and Rs. 99 dishes

They have a lot of deals raining, like an everyday lunch buffet for just 299/- that includes quite a decent variety of veg and non veg food and also the 99/- specials listed in the menu along with Sunday specials for kids. We are truly impressed and one can make the rainy season even better by enjoying Monsoon Special menu at Informal.
